When I seized the chance to change my own life, I realized it was just the beginning of a greater mission to uplift those around me. Embracing this opportunity ignited a passion within me to guide others on their own real estate journeys.
My journey in real estate began in 2019 when I decided to go to real estate school and pursue a new career path. This decision was fueled by a desire for change and the realization that real estate could provide me with the opportunities I had been searching for. After passing the licensing exam on my first try, I knew I was onto something, but it took time before I was ready to fully realize this new dream.
My background was in entrepreneurship and the service industry. My husband Elliott and I ran women's clothing stores for about 13 years. We were always focused on delivering great customer service and making connections with our clients. However, the rise of online shopping happened so fast that we didn’t have time to adapt, causing us to eventually close our stores. Elliott became an Educator and a High School Basketball Coach, and I started working in the service industry.
The transition to real estate was not immediate. While working in the service industry, I explored different things, including helping people obtain life insurance. It was during the pandemic, when my work in the service industry came to an abrupt halt, that a friend from real estate school encouraged me to use my real estate license actively. She believed in my potential and invited me to join her team.
Joining the team turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made. I quickly surpassed the sales of many experienced REALTORS®—I couldn’t believe it! My success was rooted in the strong customer service skills I had developed over many years. My guiding principles are to treat others with respect and to always remember that my actions reflect my character.
Real estate has become more than just a career for me; it has transformed my life. It has given me the chance to help others achieve their dreams. One of my proudest achievements is helping people become first-generation homeowners, which has a profound impact on their lives and their families’ futures. For example, I assisted a contractor who has worked on my properties in buying his own investment property. His goal was to provide a better future for his family, and knowing I played a part in that was incredibly rewarding.
My entrepreneurial background has greatly influenced my approach to real estate. Running our clothing stores taught me the importance of staying ahead of trends and not taking anything for granted. These lessons have been invaluable in real estate, where I strive to stay on top of the market and adapt quickly to changes.
Since starting my real estate career in 2020, I have learned the true power of real estate and how to use it as a tool to create generational wealth. I have been able to purchase 11 properties, sell 5, and keep 3. By practicing what I preach, I have been able to use my own experiences as an example to show families you don’t have to be a millionaire to invest in your future and create financial stability. Whether it’s guiding
someone through buying their first home or helping an investor find a profitable property, I love making a difference in people’s lives.
This truly has been a life-changing journey that has provided opportunities for growth, both personally and professionally, and allowed me to help others in meaningful ways. I’m grateful for Elliot’s support through this journey. We have a daughter, Ellunde, and son-in-law, DeSean who work as financial advisors. We also have five horses and three dogs, keeping us busy!
